Here’s What They’re Saying
‘I’m now 76 and had a heart attack in 2021, so I need to be a bit careful with the exercise I take. During most of this year, I’ve experienced weekly one-hour yoga lessons from Kathleen via Zoom. We start with a seated sequence of movements focussed on breathing and progress to standing with balances and a little dancing. Then it’s back to sitting and a finish of patterned breathing. The sessions are clearly presented and enjoyable, and Kathleen is very careful to ensure that I’m comfortable with the movements she demonstrates.Â
The benefits I feel from the sessions are a period of relaxation and calmness.'

'Kathleen is a generation younger than I am (I’m 76 now), but having had doubts whether this would work for me, I’ve found the time spent following her lead has been enjoyable and just the right amount of taxing. She demonstrates clearly the movements to make, and is very encouraging. She knows just how to show the postures, and clearly demonstrates how to hold them to get the most out of the various moves. Her pacing of the session is good too, and she is ready to respond to any questions when asked. We have time towards the end of the session for some free movement to music, followed by a breathing meditation which seems to bring me back to myself, feeling good.'
Naomi Barron, Glasgow
‘Kathleen’s experience of movement, yoga and breath work shone throughout her gently guided class, opening and exploring some forgotten corners of my body.’

‘Untamed Yoga, as taught by Kathleen Downie, is an amazing practice. It allows me to engage with the asanas in a way that makes me feel grounded, embodied, free and alert.Â
Kathleen always creates a safe space when she teaches, and her wonderful voice and presence enriches, for me, her teaching and is something very special. I wholly recommend joining Kathleen's class to experience a wonderful approach to yoga.’

‘Kathleen is an amazing teacher. I really enjoy the pace of her class as it allows time to really understand and explore each posture and stay connected with your body throughout.
Kathleen gives step by step options and instructions so it always feels o.k. to take it to your own level and not push it if you don’t want to.
She uses really full instructions that help you understand many different physical aspects of the postures as well as how it might feel energetically.
Her tone of voice is really gentle and helps me feel very calm and centred. Something about the way she teaches feels very light and playful, yet seems to allow me to stay present to my own embodied experience and drop into very deep states of internal awareness and relaxation at the end.
I really appreciate the support Kathleen offers through touch.
Her approach is very gentle and light and yet she always seems to communicate any subtle shift I can make to get the most out of the post, and it allows me to release tensions and breathe more fully.
I’d highly recommend Kathleen's class.
She is a really special/ magical teacher’

‘Kathleen is a super cool, enthusiastic teacher that brings the room to life! I recently spent a week learning from Kathleen on a retreat in Devon and it was amazing. Thank you yogi.’

‘Highly recommended. Dynamic movement sequences all done at a pace that I as a beginner could cope with. When I arrived at a class with a bad lower back Kathleen built material in to target my problem and it really helped alleviate the pain.’

‘I really enjoyed the untamed yoga class on Zoom. Lots of slow, deep movement, connecting me with my breath and animal body. It was great to work outside the normal structure of asanas, more of a natural movement type of approach. The pace was just right too, slow enough to really engage but with some muscular effort in there. Looking forward to coming to a real-life session soon!’

‘I have only practiced with Kathleen a handful of times, but each time I’m left with a much deeper inner-standing of what my body needs and is capable of doing!
There’s something both deep and playful around the energy that she holds in class and she has a beautiful way of facilitating a greater sense of how your body wants to move. Beautiful.Â
I’m left seeking more!
Thank you for the practice’

‘Kathleen is a really lovely teacher, she's got an interesting approach which is heavily influenced by her background in contact improv and theatrical movement, and a whole range of other things she's studied to do with movement. There's a strong emphasis on somatic awareness (don't worry if you don't know what that is, you'll feel good) leading to a really cool mix.. and this morning's class started with a shake-out to a 90s dance anthem, then led into a deep but safe practice and finishing with a really inspiring breathwork and relaxation session. It was a really cool start to the day.’
